UConn Economists Predict Sizable Job Losses
UConn Economists Predict Sizable Job Losses http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com Economists at the University of Connecticut are projecting massive job losses, as the Constitution State is slammed by the economic meltdown. The Connecticut Center of Economic Analysis at UConn predicts the loss of 40,000 jobs in the next two years. As recently as August, the center forecast a loss of only 9,500 jobs. Connecticut has remained relatively untouched by the recession when it comes to job losses, but economists agree that its mainstay industries can’t hold up much longer. In the past few weeks, the Hartford Financial Services Group announced it is laying off 500 employees, 125 at its Connecticut headquarters; and several industrial companies had moderate layoffs. Don Klepper-Smith of the governor’s economic advisory panel said the state is more likely to lose 60,000 to 80,000 jobs by mid-2010. “It stands to get worse before it stands to get better,” said Klepper-Smith, who predicts that Connecticut will begin recovering from the recession halfway into 2010.Â
Open Question: What field in math would provide the most satisfaction?
Hi
I am a math major (senior) specializing in financial math at a major big ten university.
I am planning to go to grad school. But I do not know what I would get into. As in what field. Number theory, applied math, complex analysis, financial and actuarial.?
I would like to know from people who have math related jobs or who have some experience. What field of math would give the most satisfaction? in terms of salary, and enjoyment.
Vague question. But bear with me here.
Open Question: ACCA vs. CIMA vs. MBA vs. CFA?
Which one of the above has widest coverage on accounting (management accounting, financial accounting, financial analysis, etc.) and is the most marketable/valuable qualification?
I’m a BBA student (major – Accounting) and am now in the final year. And I’m planning to get one of these qualifications after my graduation. I’m interested in both management and financial accountings, so I’m looking for a professional qualification that has the widest scope of and provides the best knowledge/foundation in accountancy. Also, has the best value in the long run, career-wise.
Open Question: Need Some Accounting Help Please!! Thanks?
