Open Question: Tentative Federal Job Offer and Bankruptcy w/ a Federal VA Home Loan Default?
I am currently being considered for a federal job and was e-mailed a tentative offer today. For the offer to be firm I must pass a background check and drug test. I’m not worried about the drug test at all but I am currently in default on a 1st and 2nd Mortgage and several credit cards, etc due to medical expenses and my wife losing her job. Anyway, the 1st mortgage is a government backed Veterans loan and has been foreclosed. I have an attorney who is waiting out the bankruptcy process to make sure I can qualify for a chap. 7. Anyway, my question is, with a foreclosure on a federally backed mortgage and all the other financial issues that I am going through (in waiting on my attorney to file the b-ruptcy case) is there anyway that I can pass a background security check and have the job offered?
